Ordering a coffee just got more complex. I step up to the counter and explain I only need a refresher on the loyalty card. Cashier looks puzzled, then takes time to boot up the computer behind her. Still, no one bothers to explain the reason for the delay, assuming I'll magically know. It's just a simple reward check - basic customer service gone astray again.
