Today at the café, I tried to order their new breakfast special and the barista just stared blankly at me as if I'd asked her to solve world hunger. I repeated the name, she muttered something, then proceeded to ask if I wanted eggs or cheese on 'something with a biscuit', completely ignoring the 'special' part. People like her get paid to make simple customer interactions easy and smooth.
