Just got back from the gas station and still can't shake this annoyance - why do they insist on putting these stupid plastic lids in paper coffee cups like it's some genius multitasking design move?

It's just one unnecessary, wasteful little layer that ends up getting tossed along with the cup. How hard is it to give someone a decent ceramic cup with a nice lid like normal humans?
