Rant

Today at the checkout line, the automated card reader failed - for the hundredth time this year - and I'm tired of tapping my card three times, swiping it again, and waiting for the manual override as shoppers pile behind me. Meanwhile the automated voice cheerfully tells us to use the self-checkout lane, ignoring the fact I've chosen to interact with a human for a reason now.
