Scribbling numbers, I hit 914238 on my microwave and it beeped, then proceeded to give a ridiculously slow countdown, one that seemed to take an eternity. Like it needs to dramatize being ready or warn me I've got a second to grab it before it explodes. I just want to heat my frozen lunch not experience existential dread. Is this some new design feature or just an attempt to drive me mad.
